MetaMask Adds Native Support for Sei, Unlocking Cross-Chain Swaps and Asset Bridge
Strategic Collaboration Brings Seamless Access to Decentralized Applications and Sei-Native Assets
In a significant move, MetaMask, the self-custody web3 wallet developed by Consensys, has integrated layer-1 blockchain Sei, enabling users to access cross-chain decentralized applications and asset bridge directly from their wallet. This strategic collaboration brings the total number of supported blockchains to 11, further solidifying MetaMask’s position as a leading web3 wallet.
Seamless Access to Sei’s Ecosystem
With this integration, MetaMask users can now easily tap into Sei’s ecosystem, gaining access to decentralized applications, games, tokens, and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) without leaving their wallet. The dedicated Sei page on MetaMask allows users to swap and bridge assets to Sei, or purchase SEI directly, making it a one-stop-shop for web3 enthusiasts.
Expanding Web3 Accessibility
According to Gal Eldar, global product lead at MetaMask, “Expanding MetaMask to support emerging networks like Sei is about solving real problems for users. Web3 is moving toward a multi-chain reality, and users shouldn’t have to wrestle with different wallets or complex bridges to participate.” This integration aims to provide a smoother and safer experience, paving the way for the next wave of web3 adopters.
Sei’s Ecosystem Growth
The integration comes as Sei’s ecosystem experiences significant growth, particularly in decentralized finance (DeFi). On-chain activity has surged, with daily transactions exceeding 4.2 million and total value locked surpassing $600 million. Meanwhile, Sei’s monthly active users (MAUs) have reached 11 million. According to DeFiLlama, Sei’s stablecoin market cap has spiked over 30% in the past seven days, exceeding $265 million.
Unlocking High-Performance Network Infrastructure
By adding support for Sei, MetaMask will unlock the platform’s high-performance network infrastructure for more than 100 million users globally. Justin Barlow, executive director at the Sei Development Foundation, noted that “this partnership provides Sei’s growing ecosystem with unprecedented reach while delivering a seamless onboarding experience that users already know and trust. It’s a milestone that takes Sei one step further in building the best high-performance EVM ecosystem.”
